Join us for the stand-up comedy show “Quietly Well-Read” with Mykhailo Zhuravel!
“Quietly Well-Read” is a unique stand-up performance about Ukraine, its struggle for freedom, contemporary Ukrainian literature, and the writers who are now fighting on the ideological front lines.
Mykhailo Zhuravel is the director of the Odesa Cultural Center, the general producer of the Moloko theater festival, a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize, an expert at the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, a volunteer, and a father of many.
Having studied hundreds of books, he created this stand-up based on the works of Andriy Lyubka, Serhiy Dziuba, Artemiy Kirsanov, Vasyl Piddubny, Vitaliy Zapeka, the Kapranov brothers, Yuriy Zhuravel, and others—most of whom are now defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces or assisting as volunteers.
Through humor and literature, Mykhailo Zhuravel tells the stories of those who have traded their pens for weapons and how modern Ukrainian literature has become a source of strength, inspiration, and truth in times of war.
