Film Screening: “Uprooted” – March 16, 2024

We invite you to our next film screening, this time – the documentary film “Uprooted,” presented by the Kyiv Independent, which sheds light on the violent deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia, one of the occupiers’ most heinous war crimes.

Surviving occupation and being forcibly brought to Russian territory is one of the greatest horrors that Ukrainian children are currently experiencing. Over the course of two years of the ongoing full-scale invasion, Russia has illegally deported at least 19,546 Ukrainian children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to their territory. In Russia, they are illegally “adopted,” subjected to psychological and physical violence, deprived of communication with their country and family, and taught to hate Ukraine. These are 19,546 scarred, traumatized children, and torn apart or killed families. This is yet another attempt by the enemy to enslave and erase our future generations.

The event is organized in collaboration with CYM Edmonton, Ukrainian National Youth Federation (UNYF Edmonton), League of Ukrainian Canadian Women, League of Ukrainian Canadians, and Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Alberta Provincial Council.
