Is the war over yet?
This is the question Ukrainians hear too often.
It’s been almost two years since Russia launched a brutal, full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over
this time, Russia hasn’t stopped terrorizing Ukraine for a moment— committing every war crime
imaginable, violating Geneva Conventions, and decimating dozens of peaceful cities across the
country. Every day, Russians continue bombing residential areas, hospitals, malls, and schools in
Ukraine. Every day, Russians kidnap, torture and murder civilians, rape men, women and
children, and forcibly deport Ukrainians to Russia. This war does not rage on the frontlines alone — it rages in the hearts of all Ukrainians, every day.
So, no, the was is not over. And the war will not be over, until the invaders are stopped.
This project is an exhibition produced by the members of UNYF Edmonton, that is meant to highlight the magnitude of the humanitarian catastrophe, the extent of horrors inflicted by Russia, and the stories of courageous Ukrainians whose lives were ruthlessly taken away — or forever altered — by this war. And this exhibition shows only a small portion of it all. Nevertheless, we cannot, and will not let the world forget or remain silent about it. We must continue to raise awareness about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and we encourage you to do the same.
Remember – you don’t have to be Ukrainian to support Ukraine. And if Russia stops fighting, the war will end; but if Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no more Ukraine.
The “War Is Not Over” exhibition was first displayed in Edmonton City Hall on November 25, 2023.
The “War Is Not Over” exhibition started to make its way out of its originating city to continue spreading awareness about russia’s invasion of Ukraine. First stop – Ukrainian National Hall in Smoky Lake. Huge thank you to the Ukrainian community of Smoky Lake who helped organize the exhibition.

February 24, 2024, marked 2 years of full-scale horrors that have been taking place in Ukraine. The “War Is Not Over” exhibition has made its way to Ontario, where it was displayed at Toronto City Hall from February 20th to February 24th, 2024, dedicated to the heartbreaking anniversary.
