FILM DESCRIPTION:
Lovers Olena (Tetiana Malkova) and Andrii (Taras Tsymbaliuk) live, savoring every moment spent together. Their idyll is shattered by the invasion of Russian troops. While trying to escape the war zone, the couple encounters Russian soldiers. Andrii dies in Olena’s arms. Olena’s fury and desire for revenge turn into an unstoppable force. Long ago, she gave up her witchcraft powers for her love for Andrii. Now, nothing can stop the powerful witch. To take the lives of those who killed her beloved, she won’t spare her strength or hesitate to devise ever more brutal vengeance.
The horror film “The Witch of Konotop” is a Ukrainian production. The script was written by Yaroslav Voytsishek (“Zakhar Berkut,” “The Stronghold,” “Mavka: The Forest Song”). He, along with some of the film’s actors, is currently serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The director’s chair was taken by debutant Andrii Kolesnyk. Real captured Russian military equipment and uniforms were used for the filming. It is expected that the film will be the first in a series of horrors produced by Film.UA Group.
The film is in Ukrainian with English subtitles.
